KUPARI, a seaside resort on the western coast of the Zupa Bay, 8
km southeast of Dubrovnik, situated on a slope of a small hill.
On the cape along the sea is a 400-m long sand shore. Southwest
of the cove is a promenade between a pine forest and the sea,
with accesses to a number of small shores. |

A large sand beach, the forests of palm-trees and oleanders,
clear seawater and the closeness to Dubrovnik make Kupari a
pleasant tourist destination. |

|
In the
vicinity of Kupari is a fortified residence called Toreta; built
by Orsat Durdevic in 1623 for the purpose of defence against the
pirates. The square structure with the vaulted ground floor has
loopholes on the first floor and on the staircase.
