Trsteno is one of the most beautiful resorts in Dubrovnik
surroundings, particularly distinguished by its arboretum which
represents the oldest landscaped Renaissance park in Dalmatia
(according to the inscription of 1502) and the only arboretum on
the whole Mediterranean region of Croatia. Exotic plants are
amply represented, and the two, more than 400-year-old gigantic
plane-trees, being unique in whole Europe, rise on the square. |

The park (arboretum) with exotic plants (gigantic
plane-trees, palm-trees, camphor-trees) is adorned with stone
pillars, and in 1736 a Baroque fountain featuring Neptune and
nymphs was erected. |
