PODGORA, a village and port in the Makarska littoral, 9 km
southeast of Makarska; population 1,452. The village has a
number of sources of potable water and a medicinal saltwater
source called Klokun. Chief occupations include farming, growing
of vines and olives, seafaring, fishing and tourism.

A beautiful beach, plenty of greenery, very good hotels and
restaurants make Podgora one of the favourite tourist
destinations. Re-creation enthusiasts are offered four tennis
courts, as well as various playgrounds for indoor football,
basketball and beach volleyball. Various workshops are also
provided: yachting, windsurfing, water skiing; equipment for
water sports and boats are also rented. |

A number of events are organized during the tourist season:
cultural and entertainment programs, performances of theatre and
folklore groups and fishermen's fiestas. The most important
feast in Podgora is the day of St. Vincent, patron saint of the
village |
